Study Abroad Tips

**Things I Wish I Would Have Known Prior to Studying Abroad**

It is your responsibility to check your acceptance progress

    Be proactive!

Wait to pack until the day before you leave [why live out of a suitcase at home?]

As soon as you get accepted to the abroad university, purchase airline tickets

Buy airline tickets through STA travel [they are extremely flexible and can save you hundreds of dollars]

Get classes approved so there are no questions as to which units transfer back to SDSU

Learn about the exchange rate and always budget more money than necessary should the rate change or the cost of living be greater than originally expected

Get email addresses of family members and friends to compile a mass email illustrating your adventures

    Network early!

Research whether or not you will need a visa in your country…early!

Prepare more time than expected to purchase and receive your passport

Get a small dosage of sleeping pills from your doctor to prohibit the extreme affects of jetlag…take on the plane!

Live in the moment…this experience will change your life
